Family-friendly lunch and dinner coastal seafood inspired, Ropewalk in downtown Bethany Beach is one of four sister restaurants in the Maryland area, each offering an expansive moderately-priced menu catering to large groups not expecting gourmet dining. You will find numerous seafood style dishes in a loud, fun, active setting that welcomes large groups and encourages plenty of ‘baskets of appetizers’ sharing, along with copious drinks. The smorgasbord of undistinguished food is seemingly prepared by the quantity in this cavernous two story-restaurant that turns more tables than compliments at the end of the meal, but nobody visits Ropewalk for a culinary adventure. Do not expect a real seafood meal: crab cakes have more filler than soap operas; soups are more stock than crab; fried anything is more breaded than whatever you hoped was inside – you get the Sysco-quality picture. But with no heightened food expectation, you cannot be disappointed with Ropewalk, especially with large groups and families, as the restaurant is always a fun dining experience filled with boisterous unsuspecting tourists believing Ropewalk defines seafood in downtown Bethany Beach – unfortunately, it almost does.
