Theo’s Steaks, Sides & Spirits

Opened in 2021 in the former and popular Café Solé space in Rehoboth Beach, this St. Michael’s legend offers typical steakhouse fare, along with seafood staples that commonly adorn a steakhouse menu, including salmon, tuna, and the ubiquitous crab cakes, and all in good order and preparation.  Steaks rule, however, at Theo’s, priced brazenly from the mid-$50s to mid-$60s, along with tasty (and equally expensive) starters and appetizers to complete the full steakhouse experience.  Theo’s may not be your daddy’s steakhouse, listing steaks by size, perhaps to accommodate restrained appetites.  But restrained budgets don’t receive as much consideration, however, as only one of the small steaks, an eight-ounce filet, is under $56.  The décor is simple and dining room small and plain, but tasteful, as are the premium cuts of beef – nothing too fancy, nothing too staid, prepared just right.  One special ‘supper’ standout is the ‘Thanksgiving Dinner 365,’ which includes roasted turkey and all the dressings and fixings, on one large plate.  Sounds gimmicky?  Of course, but Theo’s delivers if you risk a heavy Thanksgiving meal on a brisk beach evening.  Service can be uneven, sometimes slow, and sometimes less than fully attentive – probably attributable to the difficulty seasonal restaurants often face in locating dedicated and experienced servers in a resort environment.  Still, Theo’s strives to please and typically delivers to patrons trusting the return on their dining investment.  There are plenty of good steak restaurants in Delmarva, and Theo’s has joined the list with minimalist style and aplomb.
