Crooked Hammock Brewery

The Delmarva peninsula is loaded with brewpubs, microbrewery restaurants, and gastropubs (is there much of a difference?) specializing in craft beers, almost a right of restaurant passage in a beach resort town.  Crooked Hammock presents a welcome addition to the list, offering standard fare menu items that reflect a cookout look-and-feel to actual backyard dining.  The Lewes location includes inside traditional brewpub tables and on-the-deck seating, featuring outdoor games and things to keep the teens and kids happy while you enjoy suds from a very sophisticated craft beer menu.  Don’t miss the Old Bay crab dip or street corn fries as starters, or, if healthy dining accompanies your beer selection, Crooked Hammock offers many salads with proteins of your choice, though the grilled chicken cobb is a popular option. The mains, sandwiches, and burgers round-out a menu that leans less coastal classic, and more brewpub.  Crooked Hammock also offers a bit of history, displaying WWII artifacts recovered by local original ‘Monument Man’ Richard Mootz, whose treasures adorn some of Crooked Hammock’s tables and after whom a craft beer is named.  Visit Crooked Hammock to observe some history; sample its brews and pub food; or simply to have fun in the restaurant’s sandpit and backyard, where dogs are not only allowed, but encouraged, as long as they don’t eat other patrons’ food or bother the kids playing games while they chase balls and servers fetch your orders.  You get the drift: families, groups, and those looking for a bit of fun or an adventure all are welcome at Crooked Hammock, even if you visit just to take a nap in one of its outdoor hammocks.
