Yellow Fin’s Bar & Grill

Yellow Fin’s presents a restaurant reviewer’s dilemma when both the service and food are less than adequate: what to first assail?  Let’s start, instead, with the restaurant’s name: to our knowledge, Yellow Fin’s Bar & Grill offers very few dishes that are actually grilled.  The restaurant should be named: Yellow Fin’s Fried Food and Bar.  There is no shortage of fried or warming lamp appetizers and entrees at Yellow Fins, and none that we sampled warrant a return visit.  Equally displeasing was the chicken dish, a rubbery impersonation of airline food — the coach section.  A case could be made for a restaurant offering hand-prepared (battered) food that is fried, but while we have not been invited to the kitchen, and will not soon return to accept such an invitation even if extended, we surmise that most pre-prepared items are pulled from the freezer, right off the food service truck.  Cafeteria-style fried food cannot be washed-down properly with stingy drinks, inadequate crushes, which, while not easy given the simplicity of their preparation, are somehow ruined, and water served in glasses adorned with beer brand logos that no doubt were gifted by the distributer, imbuing the water with a stale beer taste after repeated use at the bar.  The inattentive service is not much better, with ordered items never delivered and random servers ‘auctioning-off’ dishes when they arrive cold.  Both locations (we exclude the Long Neck location, which has not been visited) have a strip mall look and feel, so reasonable diners should not expect gourmet dining, nor does Yellow Fin’s even pretend to offer a meal which encourages you to gather your friends for a return visit.  For what it’s worth, the restaurant has a cool logo.
