The Lighthouse Dewey Beach
The Lighthouse boasts on its t-shirts that it offers “the biggest deck in town.” That double entendre may be true, and its big deck allows for, among other naughty things, observing the best cleavaged sunset on the strip, enjoyed each evening by plenty of reveling patrons distracted by the sun melting slowly into Rehoboth Bay. Lighthouse is known less for its tasty crab cakes and sandwiches, and more for its always playful (some say sinful) vibe, with plenty of drinking and partying for the baby boomer and younger crowd, a different ambiance than its frat house brethren neighbors. The bar pub menu is what you may expect, with the starters and sandwiches better options than the expensive entrees, after all, Lighthouse is not a culinary destination – just visit its website, which offers no playful food photos, but videos of plenty of folks enjoying drinks, sun, and fun. Still, the kitchen sometimes delivers at this often-over-looked Dewey Beach mainstay, and if the weather cooperates, Lighthouse is a great place to enjoy the view, good friends and neighbors, family, and at best average bar food, all delivered with welcoming and excellent service.
