Northbeach

The oldest act of oblivion is often dated to 403 B.C., when the Athenians, having survived the bloody reign of the oligarchy Thirty Tyrants, who were installed into power by the Spartans after the Peloponnesian War, swore to forget the violence of the civil war that divided Athens and which brought them to power.  Citizens took an oath promising not to remember what had occurred, hoping, ultimately, to remind themselves of the evil of tyranny.  This did not mean the tyrants were forgiven, they just were forgotten, having been left to eternal oblivion, about the same feeling most people have after suffering from a meal (and drinking night) at Northbeach — best to forget it.   Hard to believe Northbeach actually serves food, though it boasts “the best pizza south of Manhattan.”  No sober person takes seriously Northbeach as a restaurant venue, as Northbeach is known for drinking and partying, with no kids allowed.  That’s right, children are not welcome even for a meal, but you should thank management for that restrictive policy because while its ubiquitous pizza is passable after downing several drinks, nothing else is.  Moreover, kids have no business observing how adults frequently behave at Northbeach, so better to leave them with the babysitter where they cannot possibly enjoy a worse meal than anything Northbeach serves.  Come for the voluminous drinks and partying, avoid the fights and sometimes police activity, but leave your appetite at home.  After a night at Northbeach, oblivion may actually be your BFF.
