Signatures at Bayside

Signatures is buried inside the Bayside Resort golf complex, which largely serves the eponymous Bayside housing complex and its golfing guests.  The menu is varied and largely standard family coastal resort type fare, simply but nicely presented, at resort style prices.  Signatures largely caters to its captive Bayside audience of golfers and residents, with its mixed indoor-outdoor bar complex well-suited to greet 19th hole golfers desperate to share stories of fortune and loss on the round they just enjoyed (or hated given the challenging course).  ‘Meet at Signatures’ is a common refrain heard ‘round the massive complex, and for good reason, because you’ll always run into a local friend, or make new ‘what section do you live in’ acquaintances around the bar.  Nothing stands out on the menu, and nothing really misses either – the dishes are suited for the families which abound Bayside, and there is something for everyone.  The drinks are more generous than the food portions, but equally as satisfying and plentiful.  Signatures sometimes suffers from staffing shortages particularly when the restaurant is ground zero for meeting before a concert at the local stage (the only one around) or on summer weekends when the golf crowd swells.  Come for the fun, if not necessarily for the average food, and stay for the sweeping golf course views and some good yarns about your round.  But if you aim for as good a meal as you do the flagstick when hitting an approach shot at the Jack Nicklaus course, go elsewhere, because Signatures may not be worth the cost relative to other local but better restaurants, and the Bayside golf course is the most difficult in the state.  In both instances, you likely will be way off target.
