Aroma Mediterranean Restaurant

The list of countries which compose the Mediterranean Basin includes most of the Western Asia, Northern Africa, and Southern European coasts, more than 30 countries.  All of these countries’ cuisine differs, of course, but one common theme is a focus on fresh products, pronounced flavors, and simple preparation.  Mediterranean cuisine is often described as comprised of plant food and minimally processed staples where herb and spices are essential ingredients.  Plenty of fruit, vegetables, legumes, grains, olive oil, and aromatic herbs also are present. So, what then, is a Mediterranean restaurant like Aroma?  Well, considering the menu, it is largely Turkish and Middle Eastern cuisine, focusing on kebabs and mezze, with plenty of Persian dip and stew options accompanying nearly every dish.  Aroma occupies a well-known to locals location that has witnessed more restaurant changes the past decade than Oval Office occupants – good for the landlord’s attorney who can make a living just on preparing leases for turnstile tenants.  Can Rehoboth Beach support a second Turkish-influenced restaurant on the strip?  Well, so far, but with uneven seasonal service, Aroma has the aroma of a restaurant that needs to focus on training a professional staff if it wants to succeed in a competitive Mediterranean restaurant market.  The food is well-prepared, not over-seasoned which is common with Middle Eastern-inspired resort town restaurants, and portions generous.  Kebabs are a specialty, though the presentation can be boring, but, hey, nobody ever neglected to return to a restaurant because of food plating, well, as long as that nobody is the Delmarva Foodie Elitist.  Aroma will continue to mature and develop a local following, carving a special Middle Eastern - Mediterranean spot at the beach, which always welcomes regional cuisine.
